Alphabet Blocks

Alphabet blocks are the most common type of block. They are usually made of wood and have letters and pictures on the sides, depending on the brand.

Lindenwood makes durable, large alphabet blocks. Their Uncle Goose ABC Wooden Blocks have carved colorful letters on four sides, a letter on one side, and a drawing on the last side. Lindenwood blocks maintain high reviews from consumers. The best part is that they are made right here in the United States with nontoxic ink and made from renewable forests.

Melissa & Doug Wooden ABC blocks are another great option for children. Although slightly smaller than Lindenwood blocks, these 1 inch blocks feature numbers or letters on two sides and stamped letters and pictures on the remaining sides. These blocks will build towers and provide hours of entertainment, however they are not recommended for small children. Many reviewers claim that the blocks are too soft and chip easily.

Soft Baby Block Sets

For the littlest ones try soft blocks. Soft Baby Block Sets are made from either soft polypropyleneor fabric. These blocks are made specifically for infants and young toddlers and hold up to chewing, squeezing, and stacking.

B. One Two Squeeze blocks are made from soft polypropylene. They are made to be chewed on, squeezed, and squished and played with. These endurable blocks are dishwasher safe and can even be used in the bath tub! Reviews are generally very good however there have been a few complaints regarding the smell when they are first opened.

Taggies Big Soft Blocks are really fast becoming the new thing in toddler toys. These soft squishy toys feature sounds, colors, and the all famous soft satin tags. Children love playing with the tags all over the blocks. Reviews are generally great across the board for these big soft blocks!

Baby Einstein Discover Blocks are soft fabric blocks. Each of the 3 blocks in the set feature a different activity. One has a teether, the other a 3D butterfly, and the third has crinkle sides. Perfect for little hands to manipulate and explore. Reviews are mixed, but most agree that they are adorable.

Interlocking and Plastic Block Sets

Interlocking baby blocks are usually hard plastic blocks with raised areas that "lock" into other blocks. Plastic block sets include nesting blocks and those that are used in shape sorters.

Fisher-Price Little People Stack 'n Learn Alphabet Blocks are hard plastic blocks that stack one on top of the other. The top of each bock features a round piece that can be inserted into the other block. Reviews are good and most people love the fact that they work with the little people figures.

Brilliant Basics- Baby's First Blocks these adorable plastic blocks are made into fun shapes that fit into a carrier. Their fun design and bright colors will provide hours of fun for children of all ages. Forget boring old squares, children will love dumping out the pieces and fitting them into the slots over and over again.

I didn't know there were so many choices in baby blocks! I didn't even know there were people out there reviewing them.

Nice hub, keep it up!
